Custom Challenge Coins and The Color Magic of Pantone®

Custom Challenge Coins and Pantone Color Match

What is the Pantone (PMS) Color Match System®?

The Pantone Color Match System® also referred to as PMS Color Match is a proprietary color space that was created in 1963 by its inventor Lawrence Herbert. This Color Match System standardizes colors and assigns each color a unique Pantone number and name that facilitates quick and easy access to your color choices. It is the essential go to tool when starting your custom challenge coins.

Our Team at RespondersPro.com refers to this constantly as it is the professional color matching system that both provides color correctness and standards as well as a high level of accuracy in the identification of colors, quality control and all aspects and specifications in all project applications.

Why is PMS Color Match System® important?

The PMS Color Match System accurately reproduces color and allows our manufacturing and design team to correctly reproduce and control the colors of your Logo, Department and Agency branding colors. RespondersPro.com makes creating your Custom Coins, Lapel Pins and medals easy and straightforward.

Creating & Designing your Custom Challenge Coin Project

Our team at RespondersPro.com loves working and designing with the PMS Color Match System and the harmonies of the Pantone system to create fantastic custom challenge coins, lapel pins, medallions, belt buckles and more. We keep your PMS Color Codes on file to ensure accuracy and repeatability on your repeat and new orders.

Since all colors will appear differently on every screen and monitor we always use the PMS Color Code to indicate colors used. As these colors are standard universally your custom coins, lapel pins, medals, patches and belt buckles will be accurately manufactured by RespondersPro.com.

When designing and creating your unique custom coins, lapel pins, medals and belt buckles with new colors that you have not incorporated into your masterpiece before, we recommend that you refer to a Pantone Color Swatch for accuracy in your color design as they are the best tool available for verifying your color choices. Also ideally you should be using a Color Swatch that is purchased within the past year as the inks printed on the swatch can fade and become yellowish as time passes. Also take note of the type of paper the Color Swatch has been printed on: matte versus coated finish as this can result in slight color variations between editions.

All About Pantone Color of the Year

It is hard to believe that the PANTONE COLOR INSTITUTE™ has been celebrating the beauty and versatility of colors for over 20 years. Starting in 2000, the Pantone Color Institute developed the Pantone Color of the Year as a bold and trendsetting concept to influence all aspects of color design, color trends, branding, home décor, marketing and creative aspects in global society as a whole. They have become the go-to source and experts to work with and harmonize colors and color palettes to be used effectively in all areas of color design.

This bold strategy has placed and maintained The Pantone Color Institute™ as the fore runner in everything color related. This overwhelming success in the color generates intense excitement and anticipation from brands, designers, creators, marketers, influencers, graphic designers, artists, fashion, health and beauty brand icons, as well as the general public who await the announcement of the new Color of the Year in December every year.

The Pantone Color Institute™ works hard throughout the year to forecasts global color trends, fashion colors, seasonal trends as well as the psychology and emotion of colors. Pantone captures the spirit of each year by thoughtful research and consideration of things such as current events, socio and economic conditions, art, film and travel, lifestyles, playstyles, sporting events, technology, materials and textures and trend analysis.
